Individual and Family Therapy
We emphasize a cognitive-behavioral and ACT
based approach to addressing a wide range of behavioral, emotional
issues. These evidence-based approaches focus on moving thinking and
behavior in a positive direction through improved understanding and
development of practical behavioral and cognitive coping skills.
Medication Management
Our board-certified psychiatric providers evaluate, diagnosis and treat a wide range of conditions with psychotropic medications. For some clients, medications are an invaluable part of short or long-term treatment. Medications can often reduce or eliminate symptoms that interfere with a person’s ability to function day to day. Symptomatic relief may also allow a client to take part in other aspects of therapy in a way they would not otherwise be able to do.
Psychophysiological Training
Biofeedback is not a treatment in itself, but among a number of methods we might use to assess whether a patient is learning important self-regulation or self-calming skills. Physical measures such as respiration, heart rate variability and muscle tension can tell us a great deal about a person’s level of physical arousal or activation. When clients learn to manage these physiological responses, they are better prepared to benefit from therapy.
Neurofeedback, a specific form of biofeedback, is used to measure and train brain activity using EEG measurements as feedback. The goal is improved overall regulation and preparation for and enhancement of other therapies. A specialized type of neurofeedback, alpha-theta training, is often beneficial for individuals who have experienced trauma.
Psychological and Behavioral Assessment
Psychological and behavioral assessments are conducting using a combination of clinical interviews and observations as well as standardizing testing methods. The goal is to determine the most accurate and descriptive diagnosis to inform treatment goals and methods. Services include assessment of neurodevelopmental disorders such as Autism, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and others.
